Postgraduate Education Opens in French University

Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan today had an official meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France, Jean-Francois Sharpantiei.

The main focus was on activation of French participation at all levels of our educational system and issues related to the further development and activities of the French University in Armenia. "As a francophone country we assumed certain responsibilities for the development and dissemination of the French language and Francophone culture”, said the Minister and stressed that he highly appreciated the role of the French University in Armenia's educational system, as well as the existence of its independent system in the process of country’s autonomy and sovereignty.

On his part the Ambassador thanked for the cooperation that existed in the sector and highlighted that the French University in Armenia is the most impressive accomplishment within the framework of Armenia-France collaboration.

Mkrtchyan welcomed the undertaking of the French University to establish a post-graduate education and expressed his willingness to support these efforts.

The parties stressed the need to increase the number of schools with in-depth study of French language, French language teacher training, dissemination and development of the French language and Francophone culture in Armenia.
