Capacity building trainings in Tavush marz

First training on “Human Rights  and Civil entitlements affecting on the Youth Welfare” was conducted for Baghanis, Voskevan, Berdavan and Haghtanak communities’ Youth Advocacy Groups. The aim is to give comprehensive knowledge and necessary skills to carry out human rights and civic initiatives, to enhance team cooperation skills. The training topics were varied: human rights and protection, civil society, civil standards affecting youth welfare, civic activism, introduction of national and international documents of human rights, participation in the decision-making process in local level, screening of thematic films and discussions.

Non-formal educational methods and team training promoted participants to be engaged in educational process. Children learnt about the fundamental human rights and freedom, features (impartiality, universal, alien, etc.) and its protection, violations’ prevention methods, democracy, State-citizen legal relationships, realization of rights by the state and legal mechanisms, necessary steps, as well as about ways of active participation of individuals and citizens in local governance.

Project participant 14 y.o. Zhanna noted the following “Participation in the training is very important for me, as I learnt about human rights which I knew superficially. It was very interesting to learn about the laws, team work and I am sure that I can protect my rights, knowing about them.”

For capacity building, the groups will take part in Advocacy, data collection and processing, Action Plan trainings in order to get knowledge and skills.  Groups, which include 55 members, will develop community projects and will be engaged in decision making process while organizing civic initiatives, campaigns and other events.
