Minister of Education and Science of RA Levon Mkrtchyan received Lars Hensel, Head of Team Europe/North America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Thomas Schrapel, Regional Director of “Political Science; South Caucasus” project.
Minister Mkrtchyan welcomed his guests and attached great importance to the educational projects implemented jointly with the Foundation and noted that civic education, based on fostering democracy, is a priority for Armenia. He also added that civic education was integrated in school curricula within the “Social science” subject.
Lars Hensel, in his turn, stressed that they consider Armenia a key partner in the region and are willing to support the implementation of projects advancing the European educational standards, political and civic education.
It should be noted that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation has been represented in the Republic of Armenia since 2008 and aims to promote the development of democracy in the Republic of Armenia. On March 10, 2017, a Memorandum was signed between the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, which aims to improve the subject "Social Science" at high school.
