On October 7, with the presence of His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Minister of Education and Science Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan, the award ceremony of granting the right to postgraduate education took place in Komitas Hall of Gevorgyan Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Congratulating everyone on this important occasion, the Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan specifically mentioned : "We are in such an institution, that was among the the first in the Republic of Armenia, this small part of our historic homeland, to give a start to teaching vocational education. I remember since my youth, that teaching here was a great honor even during Soviet times. Only the elected came here to teach and they were proud to mention about it, as it is from here that the quality of the Armenian kind emerged. "
The Minister highlighted the fact that due to this right the seminary becomes an institution with an international status. With the help of “Theology” specialty and the formation of professional’s board, the institution has to implement an essential mission in the present world conditions, as the carrier of the Armenian Church's age-old heritage and values, bringing its contribution to the modern theological developments.
Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan on this occasion thanked the Catholicos of All Armenians for the great attention that His Holiness paid to the education, science and patriotic upbringing. The ceremony ended with the blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II saying:
"Due to the vision and efforts of our bright Catholicos Gevorg D this religious institution was established, seeking the aim of reestablishing the traditions of our church and educating worthy and faithful clergymen.
The motto of this institution was first of all to educate a worthy Armenian and an individual, and at the same time a deserving Armenian clergyman.
This institution fulfilled its mission with honor and glory in our national life. It gave birth to many prominent intellectuals, whobrought their service to our national life. Also, there were many deserving clergymen who came to enlighten the faith and spiritual life of our nation, to give it a faithful way to the credit of our ancestors.”
