Today Arayik Harutyunyan, RA Minister of Education and Science, and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister, visited A.I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory, during which they met the laboratory staff. Arayik Harutyunyan mentioned that he was honored to be at the Institute with a great history and expressed confidence that the history would be enriched. Arayik Harutyunyan mentioned, "During my short incumbency, I have managed to get acquainted with the problems in the field of science, and since physics continues to occupy a significant part of the scientific outcome in Armenia, it is important to focus on it and develop it. During this period, the Ministry received certain complaints from different groups of the Institute that asked to have meetings with me. Therefore, I am here to discuss all the issues openly, find solutions together and move forward."
Employees have raised some issues that are primarily related to the AANL management and the main areas of science. Listening to all the sides, the Minister mentioned that most of the problems were conditioned by the fact that the authorities and the staff of the Institute had had a proper communication problem for years. The Minister, expressing hope that the meeting was effective for all sides said, "If such discussions were more frequent, I am sure that many problems would have been solved. I suggest that all parties prepare their proposals and clarifications on various issues in the upcoming weeks which will be discussed during the next meeting."
During the visit, the Minister visited the Radioisotope Research and Production Department, where the necessary equipment for the production of isotopes and the robot created by young scientific workers, which will later be used in the production of isotopes, were introduced to him. At the accelerator center the accelerator's 60-year history and current capabilities were presented to Arayik Harutyunyan. At the AANL Nuclear Medicine Center, the Minister got acquainted with the research program of the physics of the laboratory.
