Minister of Education and Science of RA Levon Mkrtchyan hosted Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvidkoi and the Counselor on the Special Assignments of the RF Embassy, Oleg Shopavalov.

Minister of Education and Science of RA Levon Mkrtchyan hosted Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvidkoi and the Counselor on the Special Assignments of the RF Embassy, Oleg Shopavalov. Welcoming the guests, the Minister noted that despite of the historically established friendly relations with Russia in the educational and cultural spheres, nowadays young people have some problems related to the knowledge of the Russian language and access to the modern professional literature. Mikhail Shvydkoi conveyed greetings from RF Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilyeva, aimed at development and enlargement of the cooperation in the field of education. Special Representative of the President of RF expressed willingness to assist Armenia in the development of teaching manuals of Russian as a foreign language, also in teacher training and in implementing other joint projects in the field of education.

Levon Mkrtchyan informed the guests that this year Armenia became a member of the European "Horizon 2020" research network, in this context he offered to restore the previously existing cooperation in the field of science, with emphasis on the natural sciences.
During the meeting two sides discussed issues related to the advanced training of the Russian language, cooperation between educational institutions, organization of internships for students, as well as implementation of joint projects in the fields of education and science.
