Within the framework of the 8th Eastern Partnership Informal Ministerial Meeting, Minister of Education and Science of RA Levon Mkrtchyan received Liliya Hrinevich, Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science. Welcoming his counterpart, L. Mkrtchyan stressed the importance of the efforts undertaken to restore and enhance relationship between the two countries, adding that the joint projects implemented within The EU program Horizon 2020 provided favorable conditions to reach that goal. Referring to the reforms in the sphere of science, Levon Mkrtchyan said that currently our priority is to create engineering and scientific clusters. In this context, the Minister suggested to develop intergovernmental research projects, using the opportunities provided by Horizon 2020 program.
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine thanked the Armenian side for the willingness to enhance relations in the education and science sector, underlining that they had enough experience within Horizon 2020 program and were ready to share their practice with Armenia.
During the meeting the sides touched upon the educational reform process in the two countries. The Ukrainian Minister said that Ukraine also planned to pass to 12-year education model. In this regard, the Ukrainian part was interested in Armenia's experience, and L. Mkrtchyan expressed willingness to share the experience, offering to sign a memorandum on implementing joint projects in the field of education and science with Ukraine.
