Minister of Education and Scince of RA Levon Mkrtchyan today hosted the delegation headed by Jan Vapaavuori, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Minister L. Mkrtchyan welcomed the guests and stressed the significance of the program on improving seismic safety of schools implemented by the European Investment Bank in our country. At the guests’ request the Minister briefed on the reform priorities implemented in the education sector and stressed that the main task at present is to ensure the quality in all levels of education- general vocational and higher. According to Levon Mkrtchyan, the structure of Armenia’s education system, which is a member of the Bologna Process, completely complies with the European standards, and it is high time to settle the issues of content. The Minister expressed willingness to implement projects in cooperation with the EIB in different areas of the education sector.
Jan Vapaavuori, on his part, noted that EIB is satisfied with the quality of implementation of the already approved projects, which lays foundation for the further cooperation.
During the meeting the sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
