Minister of Education and Science of RA received the delegation headed by Marco Tulner, his counterpart of Saxony-Anhalt state of Germany. The Minister greeted the guests and highlighted that the cooperation in the sector of education is an important aspect of German-Armenian relations.
Levon Mkrtchyan expressed his gratitude to the Saxony Anhalt Government for the special attention to the Armenian studies and accentuated that Germany is a trustworthy partner in the field of education. According to the Minister, educational programs implemented in Armenia for many years have been aimed to reach two main targets – to develop and disseminate the German language, which was rooted in the Soviet era, when German was taught as a main foreign language and to represent the German educational system in Armenia, which has mostly political significance. L. Mkrtchyan also added that the representation of Goethe Institute in Armenia, as well as German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) had embarked on an undertaking to advance the German language in Armenia, which scholarships are of great interest among youth.
In his turn, Marco Tulner thanked the Minister for the reception and stressed, that the German Government was willing to provide support to educational programmes not only in the sector of general education, but also in the VET sector.
